Scan Service To create the very best work you must start with a great scan. We offer a scanning service for your specific need. All our scans include burning to a CD or DVD and an index print. The finest scan is the first step in creating the perfect print.

High Resolution Virtual Drum Scans

All high-resolution scans of film up to 4x5 at Photographic Works are done on our Hasselblad X5 Scanner.
We scan each image with the utmost care and with a critical eye. We understand the nuances, so we can
bring out all the subtleties of your original.

We save color scans into Adobe RGB 1998 color space in 8-bit mode, and B/W scans into Gray Gamma 2.2
color space in 8-bit mode. See other options below.

Scan Options - In addition to Adobe RGB 1998, we scan into other color spaces including: EktaSpace and
ProPhoto RGB. If you are interested in 16 bit scans, we are happy to provide that service. Please contact us

Economy Scans

Our economy scans are for those who do not need a High Resolution Virtual Drum Scan but need a file size
larger than our Fuji Frontier scan. We scan your film at 100% into an sRGB color space. The file is a 25
megabyte, uncompressed TIFF. We inspect every scan and do light dust spotting.

Fuji Frontier Scans

We scan your negatives, 120 transparencies, and 35mm slides and burn them to CD. Our Frontier
scans provide a file size of 4.5 megabyte. It is a compressed JPEG file in sRGB color space.

Frontier scans are perfect for website, e-mail and machine prints up to 8x12.

Flatbed Scans

We scan your original photographic prints and flat work up to 13”x17” into Adobe RGB or grayscale
working space. Our Fuji 550 is an extremely fine quality flatbed scanner.

If you are unsure of the file size needed, please call or email us. We would be happy to help. Let us know
the size of your original, the size you plan to reproduce it, as well as the dpi you need.
